Day 1: June 23, 2024 – Leipzig Arrival and City Exploration
Morning: Departure from Zagreb to Leipzig.
Afternoon: Transfer to the city center of Leipzig. Explore iconic landmarks such as the Leipzig Opera, St. Thomas Church, and Augustusplatz. Soak in the vibrant atmosphere and cultural richness of the city.
Evening: Check-in at the hotel. Relax and refresh before dinner.
Day 2: June 24, 2024 – Match Day Excitement
Morning: Free morning for personal activities or additional sightseeing in Leipzig.
Afternoon: Gear up for the grand finale against Italy. Departure to the stadium by train at your own pace and expense. Immerse yourself in the electrifying atmosphere as you passionately cheer for Croatia.
Evening: Return to the hotel after the match. Optionally, gather with fellow fans to share the excitement and celebrate the team’s performance.
Day 3: June 25, 2024 – Relaxing day in Leipzig
We set out for Weimar, a cultural gem in Germany known for its prominent composers such as Goethe, Schiller, and Liszt. Notable figures like the reformer Martin Luther and the renowned Friedrich Nietzsche have also left their mark on this city. In addition to its illustrious residents, Weimar is recognized for its connection to the Weimar Republic, the term used for the German state that emerged after the First World War, and legend has it that the famous German expression “Weltschmerz” originated here.
Upon reaching the city, a guided tour of the central area is on the agenda: Kirms-Krackow House – St. Peter and Paul Church with the famed Cranach Altar – Goethe and Schiller Monument – Wittumspalais – Grünes Schloss, a Renaissance square dating back to 1563 that now stands as part of Weimar’s cultural heritage. Today, it functions as a historic library with an extensive collection of over a million works – Main City Square (Marktplatz) featuring the Neptune Fountain – Im Gewölbe Theater, and the renowned Gingerbread Houses – City Hall – the residence of Weimar rulers, Schloss Weimar – the first Parliament of the German Republic – Bauhaus Museum (exterior only) – Goethe’s House. On the main square, you’ll have the opportunity to sample famous sausages, enjoy lunch, or explore one of the museums.
After Weimar, our journey takes us to the nearby town of Buchenwald. Unfortunately, this town doesn’t share the positive historical narrative of other cities on this trip, as it was home to one of the most infamous Nazi concentration camps. We’ll witness the remnants of the railway that transported prisoners to the camp, visit the monument to the victims, explore the Buchenwald memorial, and take a stroll through the former camp grounds. Given the free admission, you’ll have some leisure time if you choose to explore the area where the barracks and crematorium once stood.
Day 4: June 26, 2024 – Departure from Leipzig to Zagreb
Morning: Check out from the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Afternoon: Take the flight back to Zagreb, reminiscing about the unforgettable experiences during the trip.
Evening: Arrival in Zagreb, concluding the 4-day adventure with cherished memories.
